CGD Roofing Standing Seam

Services

Metal roofing services across Ontario

We are a metal-focused roofing company — forming, bending, flashing and installing in-house. Here is everything we do, and how each system is built.

Installation systems

Three levels of assembly. We tell you which one your building actually needs — including when that is the simplest one. Every quote is measured from a site visit or a drone survey, never estimated over the phone.

Silver

Direct installation

Panels formed on site and installed over a sound existing deck. The straightforward option when the structure underneath is already in good shape.

  • 1" mechanical lock standing seam, roll-formed on site
  • 26 gauge steel, standard colour range
  • Synthetic underlayment
  • Standard ridge, eave and gable flashings
  • Full site cleanup and magnet sweep

Best for: Sound decks, simple rooflines, budget-led projects

Gold

Strapped & ventilated

Adds a strapped substrate that creates a ventilated cavity under the panel — the assembly that actually addresses ice damming rather than hiding it.

  • Everything in Silver
  • Strapping system for a ventilated air cavity
  • High-temperature ice & water shield, past code minimum
  • Choice of 24 or 26 gauge steel
  • Snow retention assessment mapped to your roof

Best for: Most Ontario homes — our most-specified system

Platinum

Architectural grade

Full architectural detailing in 24 gauge with a PVDF finish. For heritage homes, custom builds, and anything where the roof is a design element.

  • Everything in Gold
  • 24 gauge steel with PVDF (Kynar 500) finish
  • Custom chimney caps, coping and box eavestrough
  • Double-lock 180° seams throughout
  • Concealed-fastener detailing at every transition

Best for: Chalets, heritage homes, complex or highly visible rooflines

Quote the Platinum system

Every project is quoted from a site visit or drone survey — roof complexity, tear-off versus overlay, gauge, finish and access all move the number, and none of them can be assessed from a postcode.

What we do

01

Standing Seam Installation

Our core work. 1" mechanical lock panels roll-formed on your property and seamed into a continuous, fastener-free weather surface.

  • 1" mechanical lock profile, 16" standard panel width (adjustable for architectural layouts)
  • 24 gauge for maximum rigidity and premium finish, or 26 gauge for lighter and budget-conscious builds
  • Single-lock 90° or double-lock 180° seams, specified by pitch and wind exposure
  • Optional bead ribs to stiffen the pan and reduce oil-canning on wide flat runs
  • Concealed clip fastening sized to the site's ground snow load and uplift zone
  • PVDF (Kynar 500) or SMP finishes — Signature, Printed, Classic and Textured series

02

Panel & Trim Supply

Buying material only, or running your own crew? We supply the same panels and trim we install.

  • On-site roll forming to your exact lengths — no transverse laps
  • Custom brake work: ridge, gable, eave, wall and step flashings
  • F-trim profiles, J-trim, drip edge and closure details
  • Vented soffit, fascia and matching accessories
  • Fasteners, clips, butyl tape and sealants supplied to match the system

03

Roof Inspections & Reports

A documented condition assessment — useful for insurance claims, real estate transactions, or just knowing where you actually stand.

  • Drone survey with high-resolution imagery of every plane and penetration
  • Hands-on inspection of decking, flashing, ventilation and fastener condition
  • Leak tracing at chimneys, vents, valleys and wall transitions
  • Written report with annotated photos, suitable for insurers and lawyers
  • Honest remaining-life estimate — including when the answer is "this roof is fine"

04

Metal Roof Repairs & Maintenance

Existing metal roof that is leaking, loosening or backing out? Most of the time it can be saved.

  • Exposed-fastener screw and washer replacement across full roof planes
  • Sealant renewal at penetrations, transitions and end laps
  • Individual panel replacement and re-seaming
  • Snow guard and retention retrofits where release is causing damage
  • Roof and gutter cleaning, and post-storm damage assessment

05

Custom Metal Fabrication

A brake, a shear and someone who knows how to use them. If it can be drawn, it can usually be bent.

  • Chimney caps, crickets and saddles
  • Parapet coping and wall caps
  • Custom box eavestrough and conductor heads
  • Drip edge, kick-out and step flashing to measured dimensions
  • One-off architectural details, matched to your existing roof colour and coil

06

Exterior Metal Cladding

The same panel that works on a roof makes an excellent wall. Siding, accents and commercial facades.

  • Standing seam used vertically or horizontally as siding and accent walls
  • Aluminum and steel soffit and fascia systems
  • Steel and aluminum siding in matching finishes
  • ACM (aluminum composite material) panel systems for commercial facades
  • Gable feature panels, entry canopies and dormer wraps

Service questions

What is included in a quote?

Panels formed on site, underlayment, standard flashings, fasteners and clips, labour, and full cleanup including a magnet sweep for stray fasteners. Tear-off and disposal, structural repairs to bad decking, and upgraded finishes are itemised separately because they vary enormously by roof — you see exactly what each one adds.

Do you offer a warranty?

Yes — a workmanship warranty from us, plus the manufacturer's finish warranty on the coil, which for PVDF systems typically covers chalk and fade for decades. Both are stated in writing on your quote. Ask any roofer to put warranty terms in the contract rather than in conversation.

How long does an install take?

A typical residential re-roof runs three to six working days on site. Complex rooflines, tear-offs and difficult access add time. Because we form panels on site there is no factory lead time, so scheduling is usually driven by weather and crew availability rather than material.

Can you match an existing metal roof for an addition?

Usually. Because we form from coil rather than ordering fixed panels, we can match profile and width exactly and get very close on colour. Bring us a sample or an offcut if you have one — matching to a physical piece is far more reliable than matching to a colour name.

Do you take on commercial work?

Yes — commercial standing seam, ACM facade panels, parapet coping and custom fabrication. Send drawings or a scope and we will come back with a proper quote rather than a square-foot guess.

Get a real number on your roof.

We quote from measured drawings or a drone survey — never from a phone call. Tell us where you are and what you have, and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right fit.
