Barrie roofs take a specific kind of punishment. The city sits at the base of Kempenfelt Bay, directly in the path of Georgian Bay squalls, and the lake-effect belt running up from the bay regularly buries the north end of the city while the south end gets rain. That freeze-thaw cycling is what tears apart asphalt shingles and lifts exposed-fastener metal, and it is exactly the loading a mechanically seamed roof is designed for.

Barrie averages well over 200 cm of snow a year, and much of it arrives wet off the bay then refreezes overnight. A standing seam roof has no fasteners penetrating the weather surface, so there is nothing for meltwater to work into as it cycles. The seams are folded 90° or 180° and sit above the water line.
A lot of Barrie has shallow attic space and marginal soffit ventilation. Our Gold package strapping creates a ventilated cavity between the deck and the panel, which keeps the metal closer to ambient temperature and cuts the melt-refreeze cycle that drives ice dams at the eaves.

More than a phone call can tell you, which is why we do not quote one. Roof area is not floor area — pitch and overhangs mean a 2,000 sq ft bungalow footprint can carry anywhere from 1,900 to 3,000 sq ft of actual roof. Complexity, tear-off versus overlay, gauge, finish and access move it further. We measure from a site visit or drone survey and come back with a written specification and a real number.
Yes. Our roll former comes to the property, so each panel is made in one continuous length from ridge to eave. That removes horizontal lap seams, which are the most common long-term leak point on factory-cut metal roofs.
Sometimes, and we will tell you honestly which case you are in. A single layer of sound shingles on a flat deck can be strapped over. Two or more layers, soft decking, or any sign of moisture means a tear-off. Overlaying a bad deck is the cheapest thing we could sell you and the fastest way to a callback.
