Orillia has an unusually high proportion of pre-war housing for its size, particularly through the older streets between downtown and Couchiching Beach. Those homes have steep pitches, dormers, bay windows and turret details that factory-cut metal simply cannot wrap cleanly.

Standing seam is historically appropriate — folded metal roofing predates asphalt shingles considerably. The detail that matters is scale: a 16" panel width with narrow ribs reads correctly on a Victorian roof, where a wide agricultural profile does not.
